Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is a highly effective treatment for individuals with various neurological conditions and is often used alongside other rehabilitation techniques. For clients suffering from neurological illness or injury the water provides a weightless setting in which they can perform activities that may be otherwise be difficult or impossible to perform. Hydrotherapy can help to reduce muscle spasms, improve muscle strength and improve mental health and well-being.
Hydrotherapy shares the same goals as traditional rehabilitation programs, with the added benefits of the physical properties of the warm water such as weightlessness, which makes achieving these objectives more achievable;

  • Prevention of contractures and improved joint mobility
  • Enhancing muscle activity
  • Develops motor control to aid functional goals
  • Increases muscle strength
  • Improves endurance
  • Provides a safe environment for practicing walking and weight transfer
  • Promotes independence
  • Promotes mental health and well being
  • Enhance overall quality of life
